Geelani recuperating, Nawaz Sharif prays for speedy recovery; Pak HC visits hospitalThe health condition of Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani, who was admitted in Max Hospital New Delhi on Thursday, improved today.

Geelani was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit after suffering breathlessness and chest pain at his Malviya Nagar residence in New Delhi.

Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said Geelani is under observation at the hospital and doctors are regularly performing his medical investigations.

“GeelaniSahab was today afternoon shifted to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for his better checkup. He is feeling better now and his health condition is considerably stable. He had light breakfast on Friday morning and also held a brief conversation with his party men who are stationed in the hospital,” Akbar said in a statement.

“Despite being in ICU, GeelaniSahab is concerned regarding situation in the state and is continuously asking for updates. In a message to the nation, the ailing pro-freedom leader said ‘we have to remain united in the ongoing freedom struggle.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, Deputy High Commissioner Abdullah Nizamani and other officials of the Commission visited Max Hospital to enquire about the health condition of Geelani.

“On the occasion, they prayed for the speedy recovery for GeelaniSahab. Abdul BasitSahab also had brief talks with the GeelaniSahab,” he said.

Akbar said earlier a special prayer meeting was held at Pak High Commission in New Delhi before the Friday congregational prayers which was attended by Abdul Basit, Abdullah Nizamani, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, conglomerate leader Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehraj-ud-din and other officials and staff members of the Commission.

“Terming GeelaniSahab as the symbol of freedom struggle of Kashmir and well-wisher of Pakistan, the Deputy High Commissioner on the occasion said that the entire Pakistani nation is praying for his good health and are very concerned about his health. The special prayer meeting at the Pakistan High Commission was attended by more than a hundred people and the prayer meeting turned very emotional with regard to GeelaniSahab’s health,” the statement said.

“High Commissioner Abdul Basit told the Hurriyat team that Prime Minister Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, called him over phone and asked about the health condition of GeelaniSahab. While expressing his best wishes for GeelaniSahab, the Prime Minister ordered him to remain in continuous touch with the attendants of GeelaniSahab and inform him accordingly,” it added.
